My girlfriend Sheila has been visiting me from Spain this past week, and it is her first time in the United States. She has always dreamt of visiting Utah, so I made it my priority to show her around Utah so that she would have a sense of how Utah culture is and how Utah Mormons are.
We visited Temple Square and took tours from Sister missionaries that seemed to not really know how to speak Spanish very well. It was fun to be with Sheila there, since she has always dreamed of going to Temple Square since she was a little kid.
We also spent a lot of time going to the mall. Sheila's favorite store is Deseret Book. I think she has spent almost 300 dollars there alone just in books. We also hit up the scrap booking stores so that she could buy what she can't buy in Spain... Sheila's in love with scrap booking... I dropped her off at Roberts Craft store in east bay, and came back a couple hours later, only to see two full bags, and her receite of over $200 dollars spent on colored paper and stickers! I'm just very glad to be a simple, yet complicated boy.
We headed up to Rock Canyon Park to do a little bit of sledding with Brandon, Julie and Dave.. There we had a good time sledding down the hill.. After we made a train with our sleds we shot down the slippery slopes and accidently hit a hidden jump and we all almost died.. It was great fun, coming out with little injuries. Sheila bonked her head on the ground and was done for the rest of the due to her headache.
It's fun to get out and do the activities that i haven't done in awhile. It makes me enjoy Utah and the culture that come from utah.
On Saturday I went snowboarding with my summer boss, Scott and his kids to help his 8 yr. old how to snowboard. We went to Solitude and spent the entire day there. I was able to take a lot of runs, and be able help out where i could with his son Derek. After the day was over Scott handed me a hundred dollar bill, so it pays off to take use my expertice in snowboarding as a marketable hobby.
To finish up the week we hit up a Jazz game at the Energy Solutions Arena.. Go Jazz!
